Low activity of acute respiratory infections recorded in Armenia

Armenia has recorded low levels of illness linked to acute respiratory infections during the second week of 2026, according to the country’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Health officials said children and adolescents accounted for the majority of reported cases, with nearly 68% occurring among people aged 0 to 18. The highest incidence continued to be seen in the youngest age group, children aged between 0 and 4.

During the same period, hospital admissions related to acute respiratory infections fell compared with the previous week, decreasing by a factor of 1.3, the center said.

Children and adolescents also made up the vast majority of hospitalised patients, accounting for 92.8% of admissions.

Authorities added that influenza A viruses of the H3N2 subtype continue to circulate in Armenia.
