Dozens of Armenian miners launch strike, demand higher pay

Around 50 to 60 employees at the Akhtala Mining and Processing Plant in Armenia have gone on strike, demanding higher wages and improved working conditions.

The workers say their current salaries do not adequately reflect the volume and intensity of their labor.

According to Citizen’s Voice, the plant management urged the striking employees to form a negotiating team to discuss their demands. However, talks have apparently failed to produce an agreement.

In response, the company posted on Facebook that it is seeking drillers to work in its underground mine, offering competitive wages.
