Armenian minister says universal health insurance doesn't cover all costs

Armenia’s universal health insurance system offers extensive coverage but does not pay for all medical expenses, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan said on Friday.

Speaking during a parliamentary debate, Avanesyan emphasized the need for the public to maintain realistic expectations about the program.

“The insurance package is very comprehensive and includes costly surgeries and medications, but it does not cover everything. It has clearly defined reimbursement limits and pricing,” she told lawmakers.

Avanesyan also noted that dental services would remain limited under the plan. “The package has a fixed value and we must operate within those limits,” she added.
