Narek Karapetyan outlines five-step economic development plan at Yerevan meeting

Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the Mer Dzevov (Our Way) movement, presented a five-step economic plan to strengthen Armenia to about 1,700 people at a public meeting in Yerevan on Sunday.

In a social media post, Karapetyan said the focus was on concrete programs rather than personalities, calling this essential to moving “from words to action”. The event, held at Tashir Arena, brought together Karapetyan and his movement members to discuss upcoming priorities and outline the details of an economic platform titled “Five Steps Toward a Strong Armenia”.

The plan, attributed to businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, calls for creating 300,000 jobs, primarily in the regions, introducing zero tax for small businesses, cutting medicine prices by 20%, guaranteeing the purchase of agricultural produce and providing 20,000 affordable homes with state support. Samvel Karapetyan has said he would guarantee the measures.

Narek Karapetyan is the nephew of Samvel Karapetyan, who is currently held in detention.
