Residents of Yerevan's Komitas Park protest over lack of gas supply, burst sewage pipes

Dozens of residents of the newly built Komitas Park residential complex in Yerevan gathered in their courtyard on Saturday to protest unsafe living conditions and the absence of gas supply.

Residents said apartments were handed over two years late and remain without gas despite repeated assurances from the developer and Gazprom Armenia. One resident reported that a sewage pipe froze and burst, flooding a newly renovated apartment.

The complex has a completion certificate but no occupancy permit, leaving homeowners without property titles. Protesters said they had appealed to government agencies, including the prime minister’s office and the Urban Development Committee, but received no clear answers.

Developer Ord.Development has reimbursed residents for high electricity bills used for heating, but residents warned of fire risks from overloaded wiring. Some said the gas pipeline installed does not meet Gazprom’s technical standards, a claim the developer disputes.

“We are living in unbearable conditions. People are paying rent elsewhere while their new homes are uninhabitable,” one resident told reporters, calling for state intervention.
