Strong Armenia party names Samvel Karapetyan as its PM candidate

Armenian businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan has been named the prime ministerial candidate of the Strong Armenia party in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for 7 June.

The announcement was made during the party’s official presentation at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan on Thursday.

“Our party’s candidate for prime minister is Samvel Karapetyan,” said Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the Our Way movement which launched the party.

The development follows the party congress on Wednesday, when its members elected a new chair and board. Karapetyan was unanimously elected chairman of the party.
