Drug trafficking surged in Armenia in 2025, minister says

Armenia recorded a sharp rise in drug trafficking cases last year, Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan said on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference, Sargsyan reported that drug trafficking cases increased by 614 in 2025, marking a 20.4% increase compared with the previous year. She added that law enforcement officers uncovered 243 more cases of drug sales.

Authorities seized a total of 768 kilograms of narcotics, representing an 80% jump from 2024.
