One man was killed and at least six others seriously wounded in a shootout in Yerevan’s Ajapnyak district on Wednesday.
Emergency services received a call around 3 p.m. local time reporting a dispute and gunfire in a courtyard in the Ajapnyak neighborhood, according to Armenia’s Interior Ministry.
Police officers and investigators were dispatched to the scene and found multiple victims with stab and gunshot wounds, officials said.
The 45-year-old victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The six other injured men were taken to the Armenia Medical Center, where they underwent surgery. Health Ministry spokesperson Mariam Tsatryan told Panorama.am that their condition was assessed as stable but serious, with no immediate threat to life.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee said it had opened a criminal case into attempted murder, murder, hooliganism and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Authorities did not immediately provide further details on suspects or possible motives.
