Georgia sets symbolic tariff for Azerbaijani oil transit to Armenia

Georgia has introduced a symbolic tariff for the transfer of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia, Sputnik Georgia reported on Saturday, citing the country’s Economy Ministry.

In early December, Georgia facilitated a one‑off, free transit of Azerbaijani oil through its territory to Armenia. The following shipment was charged at the standard rate, prompting discontent in Yerevan.

The issue of tariffs dominated talks in the Armenian capital between Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili and Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan.

Khudatyan thanked his Georgian counterpart for a friendly gesture by Tbilisi, confirming that a symbolic tariff would now apply to future shipments.

Both sides also highlighted their commitment to expanding freight and passenger transport links.
