Armenian prosecutors seek seizure of 1.1 billion drams in assets from ex-official

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has accepted for proceedings a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking the seize of assets worth about 1.1 billion drams from former public official Mihran Davtyan and his associates.

In a statement on Monday, the Prosecutor General’s Office said its department for illicit asset forfeiture cases had asked the court to seize property allegedly acquired through unlawful means during Davtyan’s tenure in various posts at the State Revenue Ministry and the police between 2000 and 2019.

Prosecutors seek the forfeiture of 14 real estate properties, six vehicles and stakes in two legal entities.

The claim also targets bank deposits of 792,000 drams and $24,000, the right to claim repayment of a 4.5 million dram loan, 270.15 million drams as the balance of alleged illicit funds and 796.83 million drams that prosecutors say cannot be justified by lawful income, were transferred to a bona fide acquirer or cannot be identified and seized.
