Armenia braces for powerful cyclone

A powerful cyclone moving in from the West is set to bring heavy snowfall and severe weather conditions to Armenia, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center reports.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall in Armenia late on 26 February, with precipitation spreading across most regions through 27-28 February. Mountainous areas will see heavy snow and blizzards, while valleys are likely to experience wet snow and rain. Forecasters warn of poor visibility and hazardous driving conditions, with icy roads anticipated overnight into 28 February.

Strong winds of 18-23 m/s are forecast across much of the country, including Yerevan and the Ararat Valley. Temperatures are set to drop by 8-12C over the coming days.
