Tap water in an apartment building in the Armenian town of Etchmiadzin has been contaminated with sewage following a pipeline failure, local authorities said on Friday.
The incident occurred at a residential building on St. Mesrop Mashtots Street, where a technical fault caused drinking water to mix with wastewater.
“Due to the accident, tap water supplied to the building has been mixed with sewage. We urge residents not to use the water for drinking or household purposes until the issue is fully resolved,” the Vagharshapat Municipality said in a statement.
The municipality added that it is working with Veolia Jur, Armenia’s water utility company, to repair the damage and restore safe water supply.
