Samvel Karapetyan: It's time for strong peace, tomorrow will be too late

Businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, currently under house arrest, released an AI‑generated campaign video on Wednesday, promoting a strategy of “strong peace”, arguing that a capable military is essential to deterring conflict.

In the video shared during the launch of the Strong Peace security initiative by the Strong Armenia party, Karapetyan said peace cannot be begged but must be upheld through strength. “The time for strong peace is now. Tomorrow will be too late,” he said.

Karapetyan framed his approach around bolstering Armenia’s defense capabilities, contending that a weak army encourages aggression. “A strong army preserves peace,” he said. “I often think about how to build an Armenia where reaching military service age is associated with confidence, not fear.”

He outlined a comprehensive Strong Peace program developed with international experts in security and diplomacy, focused on a robust armed forces, smart diplomacy and economic independence.

“We will have a strong Armenia through the implementation of this systematic program,” Karapetyan said.
