Armenian ruling party MP accuses Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan of hybrid war

A member of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party on Friday claimed that Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan are waging a “hybrid war” against the country through hostile narratives and external interference.

Speaking at a parliamentary briefing, MP Lilit Minasyan said the campaign fits into “the logic of foreign intervention”, pointing to media reports in the three countries that target Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, his family and the ruling party. She urged Armenian outlets to heed official rebuttals and avoid amplifying such stories.

Civil Contract faction secretary Artur Hovhannisyan said the June 7 parliamentary elections would be decisive for Armenia’s stability. “By choosing Civil Contract, the people will stand for peace, freedom and democracy,” he said, warning that a victory by other forces could return the country to the political turmoil of 2017-2018.

Asked whether the party sought indefinite rule, Minasyan dismissed the idea, stressing Armenia’s democratic system. With irony, she added that only forces aiming to undermine agreements and align exclusively with “one empire” should be barred from elections.
