Kapan recorded Armenia's highest daily rainfall

The southern Armenian town of Kapan holds the national record for the highest amount of rainfall recorded in a single day, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center reports.

The record dates back to 21 July 1960, when 176 millimetres of rain fell in just 24 hours, the highest daily precipitation ever documented in Armenia’s meteorological history.

Remarkably, the rainfall recorded in Kapan on that single day exceeded more than half of Yerevan’s average annual precipitation.
