Opposition figure says Samvel Karapetyan can 'change country’s history’

Gohar Ghumashyan, a member of the opposition Strong Armenia party, on Saturday accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of leading the country through “only deaths”, citing the March 1 unrest, the loss of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), thousands of fallen soldiers, the death of a pregnant woman, Sona Mnatsakanyan, and the recent fatal crash involving a police guard bus.

Ghumashyan said Armenia needs new leadership that can “bring only joyful days, grow the economy and return smiles to people’s faces.”

She announced that supporters will gather at Yerevan's Liberty Square later on Saturday for what she called a “unity conference”, describing it as a historic day. “We believe that Samvel Karapetyan will change the country’s history and once again bring pages of victory to Armenia,” she said.
