Pashinyan: Armenia has no plans to unfreeze participation in CSTO

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has ruled out any immediate revival of his country’s participation in the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Pashinyan dismissed suggestions that Armenia might resume active engagement. “At this stage, we have no such official information,” he said, responding to reports that Moscow may be obstructing Armenian agricultural exports.

Pashinyan underscored that his administration’s electoral program had explicitly stated Armenia would not pursue measures to “activate” its CSTO membership. “The so-called unfreezing is not envisaged,” he declared. “Whether we will ultimately withdraw from the CSTO is another matter. I cannot say. We will act according to circumstances.”

Pashinyan also clarified remarks made during his recent visit to Moscow, stressing that his comments about Armenian-Russian cooperation “not remaining in the same place” referred to bilateral relations rather than security arrangements.
