Constitutional law expert Gohar Meloyan, a member of the opposition Strong Armenia party, argues that tying the existence of a state to a single leader is unacceptable.
“World history shows that such a path inevitably leads to absolute autocracy and disgraceful tyranny, claiming thousands of innocent lives and ultimately destroying the state itself,” Meloyan wrote on Facebook on Monday.
She stressed that the highest value of any state must be the man, human rights and freedoms, rather than the ruling elite.
“In the government’s formula, Armenia ends with Pashinyan. In our vision, Armenia is eternal. Future Prime Minister Samvel Karapetyan will reinforce the foundations of that eternity,” she added.
