The Armenian authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged sexual abuse case involving two underage sisters in the town of Vedi, the Investigative Committee confirmed to Panorama.am on Thursday.
The arrests come after the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that criminal prosecution had been launched against two individuals identified only by their initials as A.E. and D.A.
According to prosecutors, A.E. has been charged under Article 198.2 of Armenia’s Criminal Code for committing violent sexual acts against a vulnerable minor. D.A. faces identical charges under three separate counts.
Earlier, attorney Varduhi Elbakyan said the case involves three suspects and two victims — sisters aged 15 and 17.
