RPA pledges full support to collective opposition in June elections

The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has pledged to dedicate its full capacity to ensuring the success of the collective opposition in the June 7 parliamentary elections.

Its member Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP of the Pativ Unem faction, made the announcement during a press briefing in the parliament. He framed the party’s stance within a broader historical narrative, recalling the Shushi liberation operation of 34 years ago as a symbol of Armenian resilience. “It was a clear message to the world that Armenians are not cowards or destined to lose. Under the leadership of devoted commanders, Armenians have always prevailed,” Abrahamyan said.

He accused the current government of promoting a defeatist outlook, arguing that Armenia’s history demonstrates a consistent will to fight for freedom and survival in its homeland. “No matter how much the current authorities try to convince the people that Armenians have no chance of victory, history shows otherwise,” he added.

Abrahamyan explained that the RPA’s decision not to contest the elections directly should be seen as part of a strategy to strengthen the collective opposition. “The Republican Party will exert its maximum potential. We are working closely with many opposition forces. Wherever our presence, statements or support can contribute to success, the RPA is there to assist,” he affirmed.
