Arman Tatoyan responds to Aliyev's remarks

Armenian opposition candidate Arman Tatoyan has issued a forceful response to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, urging both sides to submit their accusations to the International Criminal Court.

Tatoyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the Wings of Unity alliance in the upcoming parliamentary elections, released a video statement after Aliyev suggested that psychiatrists should examine Armenians’ alleged hostility toward Azerbaijanis. Tatoyan dismissed the remarks as inflammatory, pointing instead to Azerbaijan’s celebration of a convicted murderer as a national hero and its record of cultural destruction, which he claimed exceeded that of ISIS.

“Mr. Aliyev, let us agree: you present your charges against Armenia to the ICC, and we will file suits against Azerbaijan for war crimes committed on Armenian soil in 2022 and the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh in 2023,” Tatoyan said. “Our disputes will be resolved through international law. We shall meet in court.”
