MP slams Armenian authorities' silence over Artsakh leaders held in Azerbaijan

The Baku Court of Appeals has begun hearings regarding the appeals filed by former Artsakh military and political leaders, who were previously convicted by the Baku Military Court in a show trial.

Writing on social media on Wednesday, Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP from the Pativ Unem faction, emphasized that the primary objective of these appeals is to exhaust Azerbaijan's domestic judicial remedies. This step is necessary to secure the right to appeal to international courts, which is precisely why Azerbaijan is intentionally delaying the process.

"Some of Armenians held in Baku have reported through various channels that the entire process – from their arrest and investigation to the trial – has been conducted under unprecedented pressure and fabrication,” the MP said.

“Most dangerously, all of this is taking place amid the criminal silence and indifference of the Armenian authorities," Abrahamyan stated.
