Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, addressed supporters in the town of Masis on Tuesday as part of his parliamentary election campaign, presenting the party’s Proposal to Armenia program.
Tsarukyan was welcomed by residents with music and chants of his name. Speaking from the stage, he highlighted the importance of attracting investment to Armenia, warning that calls to “destroy, seize, or imprison” undermine investor confidence.
“If someone has bought a factory, worked for 25 years, invested and pays 500 million drams in taxes monthly, then faces seizure because of political disagreements, that discourages investment,” Tsarukyan said.
“I have said before, I will never trade my homeland for wealth," he added.
