The 20th edition of the Black Box International Theater and Dance Festival will officially open tonight, June 2, with Khali, a production by the Yerevan State Pantomime Theater.
The performance, staged at the Plovdiv Drama Theater, tells the story of an anonymous Armenian carpet. Directed and choreographed by Rima Pipoyan, with music by Hayk Karoyan and vocals by the “lKhazer choir, Khali combines movement, music, and choral performance to bring Armenian heritage to life.
The Plovdiv Drama Theater, founded in 1881, is recognized as Bulgaria’s first professional theater. For more than 140 years, it has been a central institution in the country’s cultural life, shaping Bulgarian theater history and hosting international projects.
The festival runs through June 15.
