Karapetyan says 2020 Artsakh war could have been stopped

Samvel Karapetyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the Strong Armenia party, claims that the 2020 Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabak) war could have been halted.

“I did everything possible to stop the war, though the details remain confidential. Nikol Pashinyan is well aware of my efforts,” Karapetyan told 168.am in an interview on Wednesday. He said that during the 44-day conflict, he responded immediately to requests raised by military officials.

Karapetyan criticized the government for misleading the public during the fighting. “They were deceiving the people, announcing every day that we were winning. I knew the reality and tried to make them understand,” he said.
