Opposition candidate accuses Armenia's ruling party of directing voters

An opposition candidate in Armenia’s parliamentary elections on Sunday accused the ruling Civil Contract party of directing voters outside polling stations.

Arman Abovyan of the Prosperous Armenia party told reporters that Civil Contract member Gnel Sanosyan was observed “standing in front of a polling station for hours, giving instructions to citizens.” He criticized the Anti-Corruption Committee for targeting opposition figures while overlooking violations by government officials.

“These kinds of blatant violations and attempts to influence voters will not help the authorities succeed,” Abovyan said. He urged Yerevan residents to set aside internal divisions and turn out to vote.
