Serzh Sargsyan casts ballot in parliamentary elections

Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan cast his ballot in Sunday's parliamentary elections, saying he supports a vision of the country that defends its sovereignty and strengthens democratic institutions.

After voting, Sargsyan told reporters he was voting for “an Armenia that is capable of preserving the inviolability of its borders, ensuring the rights of its citizens and upholding national dignity.” He added that he wanted a country where “lies and slander are punishable, and active political engagement is valued,” while criticizing the authorities for money-laundering charges against oppositionists.
