Prosperous Armenia Party spox condemns MP's remarks

Iveta Tonoyan, spokesperson for the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party, has denounced former ruling party lawmaker Hovik Aghazaryan’s remarks as “disgraceful” following Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

Aghazaryan had claimed that party leader Gagik Tsarukyan was offered a government post after the vote. Tonoyan dismissed the statement as “indecent gossip” on Wednesday, saying it undermines the party’s ongoing legal fight to challenge “grave injustice” in the election process.

“At a time when Prosperous Armenia is using every legal tool to defend voters’ rights, conduct recounts and restore the true picture of the people’s will, Hovik Aghazaryan is busy spreading disgraceful rumors,” Tonoyan said.

She warned that the party intends to file lawsuits against anyone attempting to damage its reputation.
