Armenian investigators on Friday searched the home of opposition politician Aregnaz Manukyan, a senior member of the Mother Armenia party and a candidate on the Prosperous Armenia Party electoral list, as part of a criminal investigation into alleged treason and espionage.
The Investigative Committee said its officers carried out the search early in the morning under a court order. “Investigative actions were conducted as part of a criminal probe into high treason and espionage,” the agency told Panorama.am.
The investigation is connected to the arrest of Mother Armenia party leader and parliamentary candidate Andranik Tevanyan, who is accused of leaking state secrets from a closed-door National Assembly session to foreign intelligence in exchange for $622,000.
