Prosperous Armenia Party slams election commission over vote annulment

The opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) on Friday accused the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of deliberately blocking its entry into parliament, after the commission annulled results from two polling stations in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

Speaking at an emergency press conference, its spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan said the late-night decision was “nothing but an attempt to prevent the Prosperous Armenia Party from entering the National Assembly by all possible and impossible means.” She argued the decision undermined both the transparency and legitimacy of the electoral process.

The CEC invalidated ballots from precincts 35/65 and 10/51, citing violations of the Electoral Code. Officials said soldiers had voted after 8 p.m., beyond the legal cutoff time.

Tonoyan insisted the annulment had a “direct and significant impact” on the elections, calling it a challenge to the credibility of the results.
