Armenian opposition candidate demands re-vote after annulled results

Armenian opposition candidate Gohar Meloyan, a board member of the Strong Armenia party, on Friday called for repeat voting at several polling stations, arguing that the recent decision to annul results there could significantly affect the outcome of Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

Meloyan stressed that the invalidation of votes from polling stations 10/51 and 35/65 may alter the overall distribution of mandates and potentially block the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party from surpassing the electoral threshold required for parliamentary representation.

“The annulment of results at these polling stations could directly shape the election outcome, as Prosperous Armenia risks losing its chance to clear the minimum threshold,” she said during a Facebook livestream.

She noted that Armenia’s Electoral Code allows for repeat voting when such decisions influence final results and urged opposition groups to prioritize the issue.

Meloyan also revealed that she had filed a complaint with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) one day before the election, requesting that the results from polling station 12/13 be declared invalid. According to her, ballots for the National Democratic Pole Party were unavailable throughout the day.

She argued that repeat voting should likewise be held at polling stations where similar irregularities occurred.
