Pashinyan attends parliament session as opposition boycotts budget debate

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended a session of the National Assembly on Tuesday as lawmakers began debating the government’s report on the implementation of the 2025 state budget, while the country’s two opposition factions boycotted the debate.

The four-day parliament session opened with the presentation of the budget execution report, attended by cabinet members.

The opposition Hayastan (Armenia) and Pativ Unem factions did not take part in the session.

Presenting the report, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan emphasized the importance of the discussion, noting that it comes at the close of the government’s five‑year term.

Hovhannisyan argued that the outcome of Armenia’s June 7 parliamentary elections reflected public approval of the government’s economic record.

“By giving its vote of confidence to the Civil Contract party, the citizens of Armenia effectively confirmed that the figures, indicators and results presented in this and previous reports are real and have had a tangible impact on people's lives,” he said.
