Armenian minister reports strong exports of greenhouse produce and flowers
Armenia exported 411 tons of greenhouse-grown vegetables and strawberries, along with nearly 1.8 million flowers, between June 1 and June 17, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said on Thursday.
Papoyan told a cabinet meeting that shipments were sent to markets including Georgia, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Latvia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
“These are the first consignments,” Papoyan said, adding that future growth will depend on the capabilities of producers and their international partners.
He noted that the figures cover only greenhouse products. Apricot exports have also begun, with 162 tons shipped so far. “Apricot exports started just yesterday as the fruit is ripening. The first deliveries went to Ukraine and Georgia,” Papoyan said.
