Opposition MP says Pashinyan's remarks support claims of Azerbaijani interference
Armenian opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks in parliament support claims that Azerbaijan is interfering in Armenia’s internal affairs.
“Pashinyan’s comments n parliament substantiate suspicions and assertions that Baku is interfering in Armenia’s internal affairs,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
He further alleged that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, acting through his aide Hikmet Hajiyev, is effectively exercising oversight over the Armenian government in an effort to manage the risks facing the peace process and to advance Baku’s demands.
According to Abrahamyan, Armenian authorities are attempting to dispel Azerbaijani anger and concerns by targeting their own citizens domestically.
“They are not only changing the constitution at Azerbaijan’s demand and conducting negotiations according to Baku’s preferences, but are also employing a repressive apparatus to alleviate Azerbaijani concerns,” he said.
