Search continues for missing 13-year-old in Armenia's Pambak River after sister found dead

Search and rescue teams resumed operations in Armenia’s Pambak River early on Thursday as authorities continued efforts to locate a 13-year-old girl who disappeared along with her younger sister earlier this week.

Armenia’s Rescue Service said the operation involves 125 rescue personnel, 90 police officers, volunteers, divers and drone teams. Boats and other specialized equipment are also being used in the search.

The sisters, aged 13 and 7, were reported missing on June 15 after leaving a residence on Narekatsi Street in the northern city of Vanadzor and failing to arrive at their intended destination.

On June 17, at about 9:30 a.m., rescuers recovered the body of 7-year-old Nare Martirosyan from the Pambak River. The body was found approximately 500 meters downstream from the presumed site of the incident.
