Armenian authorities advise against travel to Ebola-affected regions in Africa

Armenia’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention has urged citizens to avoid travel to parts of Africa where Ebola outbreaks have been reported, citing ongoing monitoring of the global epidemiological situation in coordination with international partners.

According to the latest figures from June 18, the Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 875 confirmed cases of Ebola and 204 deaths. In neighboring Uganda, authorities have reported 19 confirmed cases, two confirmed deaths, as well as one probable case and one probable death.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) have assessed the risk of infection for residents of the European Union and Eurasian Economic Union as very low. Nonetheless, Armenian health authorities stressed that travel to the affected regions is not recommended.
