A Boeing passenger jet en route from Gyumri, Armenia, to Moscow made an emergency landing in Makhachkala on Monday after issuing a distress signal during the flight, according to tracking data and the airline.
The aircraft, operated by Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda, departed Gyumri at 11:24 a.m. Moscow time. Less than an hour later, while flying over Dagestan, the plane transmitted a “general emergency” alert and descended to about 3,000 meters before diverting.
Pobeda later confirmed the jet landed safely in Makhachkala.
