Young ARF activists slam removal of Artsakh flag in Yerevan

Young activists of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) have accused Yerevan’s city authorities of ordering the removal of an Artsakh flag from France Square.

In a statement released on Thursday, the ARF Armenia Youth Union said the banner, first erected by citizens in 2022, has been dismantled three times in recent days under municipal instructions. Activists restored it each time, but two members were detained during their latest attempt on Wednesday evening.

“This is not merely an isolated incident but an assault on Armenian symbols,” the group declared, arguing that the crackdown reflects the government’s “anti-national policies.”

The ARF Youth Union vowed that despite official efforts to erase it from public spaces, the flag would endure as a symbol of “memory, dignity and national perseverance.”
