Opposition MP responds to Pashinyan's remarks

Armenian opposition lawmaker Ishkhan Saghatelyan has again accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of deliberately surrendering Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), saying his recent remarks amount to a confession of responsibility for the devastating consequences of the war.

Saghatelyan, a senior member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and an MP of the Hayastan bloc, reacted sharply to Pashinyan’s recent statement that “I am the person who said ‘Artsakh is Armenia, period,’ which led us to this point.”

Saghatelyan described the remark as “a self-incriminating testimony,” stating that Pashinyan deliberately sacrificed 5,000 lives, displaced 150,000 people and allowed Azerbaijani forces to establish positions inside Armenia. “This video is also for those who still think poor Nikol had no choice and everything was predetermined,” he said.

The opposition MP insisted that the war and its aftermath were not inevitable but the result of Pashinyan’s “conscious and consistent steps.” 

He pledged that the opposition will continue to highlight the administration’s responsibility for Armenia’s current crisis.
