Fourth charred body found after fatal car crash in Armenia

A fourth charred body was discovered inside a burned vehicle following a fatal crash and fire in Armenia's Ararat Province early on Monday.

Armenia's Rescue Service said it received a report at 4:37 a.m. local time that a vehicle was on fire near the village of Surenavan along the Yerevan-Meghri highway.

Preliminary findings indicate that a Nissan vehicle veered off the road, struck a rock and caught fire.

Firefighters contained the blaze at 4:42 a.m. and extinguished it at 4:50 a.m. Three burned bodies were initially found inside the vehicle.

Shamshyan.com later reported that rescuers discovered a fourth partially charred body after removing the first three victims from the vehicle.

Authorities have launched a criminal investigation to determine the identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
