Khosrov Forest Reserve to be closed to visitors on July 12

The Khosrov Forest State Reserve in Armenia will be closed to visitors on July 12, coinciding with the traditional Vardavar festival, due to heightened fire danger across the country. Authorities cited the dense grass cover within the reserve and the current fire-prone conditions as reasons for the precautionary measure.

The closure is aimed at preventing potential wildfires and their severe consequences. Visitors are urged to strictly follow fire safety rules in and around the reserve, including:

• Avoiding lit matches or discarded cigarette butts.

• Not burning dry grass or household waste.

• Lighting campfires only in designated areas and ensuring they are fully extinguished with water or soil before leaving.

• Removing glass bottles or shards that could magnify sunlight and spark fires.

• Maintaining vigilance and responsible behavior toward nature.

The reserve management called on the public to support the Khosrov Forest State Reserve SNCO, the Ministry of Environment’s Eco Patrol Service and the Interior Ministry’s Rescue Service in their efforts to prevent forest fires and uphold conservation rules.
