Armenia-Russia trade falls 21.5% in early 2026

Armenia’s trade with Russia fell sharply in the first five months of 2026, dropping 21.5% year-on-year, TASS reported on Saturday, citing official data.

Figures from Armenia’s Statistical Committee put bilateral trade at $2.196 billion between January and May, down from $2.763 billion in the same period of 2025. Russia’s share of Armenia’s overall trade also contracted, accounting for 28% versus 35.1% a year earlier.

Trade with the wider Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) followed a similar pattern, with its share slipping to 29.8% from 36.7%. Still, Armenia’s exchanges with individual EAEU members rose. Particularly, trade with Belarus increased 8.3%, Kazakhstan 10%, and Kyrgyzstan surged nearly 195%.

Overall foreign trade stood at $7.865 billion in the five-month period, a marginal 0.1% decline from $7.870 billion last year.
