Armenia braces for cooler front after scorching heat

Armenia will see a shift in weather conditions this week as cooler air masses move in from the Black Sea, easing the intense heat that has dominated recent days.

According to Gagik Surenyan, deputy director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center, southern warm air currents will continue to affect the country through July 15, keeping daytime temperatures high. The hottest areas will be the Ararat Valley and the capital Yerevan, where temperatures are forecast to reach 36–38C.

By late July 15, the warm currents will retreat southward, replaced by cooler airflows from the northwest. The inflow is expected to last until July 18, lowering daytime temperatures by 4–5C.

Dry weather will prevail until July 14, but showers and thunderstorms are likely in some regions from the evening of July 15 through July 18, with hail possible in some areas.
