Armenian ruling party's faction again skips Gyumri council meeting

Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party once again failed to attend an extraordinary session of the Gyumri City Council on Wednesday, though the meeting went ahead with quorum as 18 members registered.

Council chair Avetis Arakelyan announced a reshuffle in the opposition Our City faction before the agenda began. Artak Hovsepyan formally stepped down, submitting a request to terminate his mandate early. His seat was reassigned under a June 25 protocol from Electoral Commission No. 31 to Ara Petrosyan, the next candidate on the faction’s list.

Arakelyan welcomed Petrosyan to the council, wishing him wishing him productive service.
