A man drowned on Sunday after jumping into a waterfall in the Armenian village of Goghtanik, authorities said.
The Interior Ministry said the Vayots Dzor regional emergency center received a call at 3:55 p.m. reporting that someone was in distress in the water. Fire and rescue crews and a diver from the Special Rescue Operations Center responded to the scene.
Rescuers determined the man had leapt from a height of about 4 meters before drowning. The diver later recovered the body from a depth of roughly 6 meters, officials said.
Emergency teams secured the site and transferred the body to a vehicle for transport. The case is under investigation.
