Gyumri mayoral candidate Ruben Mkhitaryan summoned to Investigative Committee

Ruben Mkhitaryan, a candidate for mayor of Gyumri in Armenia’s Shirak Province, has been summoned to the Investigative Committee. Mkhitaryan shared a recording of a phone call with an investigator on his Facebook page, calling the summons politically motivated.

"The game of tag has begun," he wrote, referring to the children's game involving one or more players chasing other players in an attempt to "tag" and mark them out of play.

"Sarik [the acting Gyumri mayor and candidate of the ruling Civil Contract party, Sarik Minasyan], is this what you call a fair fight? Well done! Why not sic everyone on us while you’re at it? I don’t even remember if I was vaccinated for chickenpox as a child. Perhaps you should alert [Health Minister Anahit] Avanesyan about it as well. Sarik, my city boy, how’s it going?" Mkhitaryan remarked sarcastically.
