Armenian activist charged with hooliganism while hospitalized

Civic activist Artur Chakhoyan has been formally charged with hooliganism while receiving treatment in the hospital, according to a statement posted on his Facebook page.

The incident occurred at Yerevan’s Nor Nork district administration building on Wednesday. Chakhoyan was assaulted by district head Tigran Ter-Margaryan, a member of the Republic Party, and his associates, during an altercation.

Following the attack, Chakhoyan was initially taken to a police station and later transferred to hospital due to injuries sustained during the attack. Despite being the victim of the assault, he is among six individuals who have since been arrested. Ter-Margaryan, however, avoided arrest and continues to hold office.
