Opposition MP calls for coordinated response to Armenian leadership's anti-church campaign

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has called for coordinated efforts to counter the Armenian leadership's campaign against the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Abrahamyan, who represents the Pativ Unem faction, accused the ruling party of disregarding moral and institutional boundaries.

“Their actions are rooted in lawlessness, irresponsibility and the complete absence of red lines,” he wrote.

The MP further claimed that the government’s actions are being politically and propagandistically supported by the Turkish-Azerbaijani alliance, suggesting that the current administration is operating in an "all-or-nothing" mode.

“This is a matter of political survival for the ruling regime,” Abrahamyan asserted.

Meanwhile, the deputy expressed optimism that the authorities' "adventurism" may create new political opportunities for the opposition. He urged healthy opposition forces to mobilize and seek a resolution to the crisis through political means.

“We are facing an unprecedented situation that requires determination and responsibility from political actors,” Abrahamyan said, warning that "inaction and hesitation could lead to serious consequences".
