On June 11, a powerful explosion and a fire occurred at a residential building on Tigran Mets Street in the Armenian town of Chambarak, resulting in a partial building collapse. According to preliminary reports, a gas leak is believed to have caused the blast.
The Armenian Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case into the incident under Article 412.2 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of safety rules leading to death or serious injury.
The explosion left three people killed and eleven others, including seven adults and four minors, injured and hospitalized at the Chambarak Health Center.
Search and rescue operations are underway.
