Samvel Karapetyan: Political arena in Armenia turned into a circus

Famous businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, who has been detained for two months, issued another statement through his legal team on Tuesday. The statement reads as follows:

"What the current authorities have chieved

The political arena has been turned into a circus. The parliament now resembles a boxing ring. Unable to endure objective criticism, especially when it comes from strong female politicians such as Anna Grigoryan, Kristine Vardanyan, Agnesa Khamoyan, Anna Mkrtchyan, Taguhi Tovmasyan, and others, the small group, lacking any coherent response, consistently resorts to physical altercations with those who stand up in their defense.

Let me be clear about who this “small group” is. It is the uncultured and disrespectful wing of the ruling Civil Contract party, always ready to trample upon national values and desecrate all sacred symbols at the slightest provocation.

I firmly believe that even within this group, there are decent individuals for whom all of this is, at the very least, disgusting and deeply unsettling. I urge them not to be afraid, never forget basic human values and not to become outcasts of the Armenian nation.

 It doesn’t take much. All it takes is the courage to face your own people and to utter sincerely “I am Armenian”.
